Ingredients
For the Cake
- 1 box butter pecan cake mix
- 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup brown sugar
- Ingredients listed on the cake mix box (usually eggs, oil, and water)
For the Praline Glaze
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
1. Prepare the oven
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Make the cake batter
- Prepare the butter pecan cake mix according to package instructions.
- Fold in 1 cup toasted chopped pecans.
- Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
3. Bake
Bake for 30β35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool slightly.
4. Make the praline sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat:
- Melt butter.
- Add brown sugar and evaporated milk.
- Stir continuously until smooth and slightly thickened (about 3β5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and pecans.
5. Assemble
- Poke small holes all over the warm cake using a fork or skewer.
- Slowly pour the warm praline glaze over the cake so it soaks inside.
6. Serve
Let the cake rest for 15β20 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm or chilled.
