Rich Butter Pecan Praline Cake

Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 box butter pecan cake mix
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • Ingredients listed on the cake mix box (usually eggs, oil, and water)

For the Praline Glaze

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

1. Prepare the oven

  • Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Make the cake batter

  1. Prepare the butter pecan cake mix according to package instructions.
  2. Fold in 1 cup toasted chopped pecans.
  3. Pour batter into prepared baking dish.

3. Bake

Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool slightly.


4. Make the praline sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat:

  1. Melt butter.
  2. Add brown sugar and evaporated milk.
  3. Stir continuously until smooth and slightly thickened (about 3–5 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and pecans.

5. Assemble

  • Poke small holes all over the warm cake using a fork or skewer.
  • Slowly pour the warm praline glaze over the cake so it soaks inside.

6. Serve

Let the cake rest for 15–20 minutes before slicing.

Serve warm or chilled.

  • Toasting pecans gives deeper flavor and extra crunch.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an even richer dessert.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
