Homemade Maple Donut Bars

Soft, fluffy, sweet, and covered in a rich maple glaze β€” these homemade donut bars taste even better than bakery donuts!

Ingredients

Donut Bars

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Maple Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).
  2. Lightly grease a baking tray or line with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together:
    • flour
    • sugar
    • baking powder
    • salt
  4. In another bowl, mix:
    • milk
    • melted butter
    • egg
    • vanilla extract
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 2: Shape the Donut Bars

  1. Transfer dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  2. Roll dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  3. Cut into rectangular bars.

Step 3: Bake

  1. Place bars on prepared baking tray.
  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  3. Let cool slightly on a wire rack.

Maple Glaze

Step 4: Make the Glaze

  1. In a bowl, whisk together:
    • powdered sugar
    • maple syrup
    • vanilla extract
    • milk (add gradually)
  2. Mix until smooth and pourable.

Step 5: Glaze the Donuts

  1. Dip the tops of warm donut bars into the maple glaze.
  2. Place on a wire rack to let excess glaze drip off.
  3. Allow glaze to set for about 10–15 minutes.

Tips

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for extra warmth.
  • Best served fresh and slightly warm.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
