Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley or Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
Optional Butter Filling
- Small cubes of butter for the center
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200Β°C (400Β°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and parsley.
- Add cold butter cubes and rub them into the flour mixture using your fingers until crumbly.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg.
- Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Scoop portions of dough and shape into round balls.
If desired, place a tiny cube of butter in the center before sealing. - Arrange on the baking tray with space between each scone.
- Bake for 15β20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Serve warm while the cheese is melty and soft.
